Snoqualmie Falls, a spectacular 270-foot waterfall, is located just 30 minutes from Seattle. It became famous in the 1990s from the TV series “Twin Peaks” and now attracts 1.5 million visitors yearly. The best time to visit is in spring for the full force of the waterfall or fall for beautiful foliage. Also, spring and fall have fewer crowds.
Getting There: The drive from Seattle is straightforward via I-5 South and I-90 East. Parking is available in a paid lot near the visitor center ($7 for two hours, $5 for each additional hour) or a free lot across the street.
Exploring the Falls: There are upper and lower plazas with viewing decks. The upper plaza is easily accessible and offers a panoramic view from above. The lower plaza can be reached by a steep half-mile trail. It offers a closer look at the hydroelectric process and river access.
Facilities: Picnic areas are available but cannot be reserved. Barbequing is not allowed. The park, including the viewing areas and trails, is open daily from dawn to dusk.
Pets on leashes are allowed.
